Campus Facilities

The main campus is on 132 acres in the middle of town, near I-85 and Manchester Expressway, however the university has big presence in downtown Columbus, and will soon have an even bigger role.

New facilities in the past few years include the technologically sophisticated Center for Commerce and Technology (left) (with wiring for 1,500 computers), the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center (home for graduations and the basketball teams) and a slew of new apartment-style student residences.

The university's widely respected Schwob School of Music shares space in the city's RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, a state-of-the-art performing arts facility downtown that houses three performance halls, and a world-class organ. Also downtown - called Uptown Columbus here - is CSU's Coca-Cola Space Science Center, the Rankin Arts Center (right) for continuing education and student loft apartments. Plans are being made now to move the university's nationally accredited art and theatre departments to Uptown also, which will create a world-class downtown fine and performing arts campus.

Just downriver from Uptown Columbus is CSU's Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center, a hands-on outreach center for the university that provides rich learning opportunities to visitors and local school children.

Columbus State University's campus even extends overseas with its own residence in Oxford, England. Called the Spencer House (left), the tudor-style home neighbors the world's oldest English-speaking university, Oxford University, and was purchased by CSU to bolster the university's study abroad opportunities.
